CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center)
CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) is an international center and university whose key functions are teaching, research, innovation for development and technical cooperation in agriculture, natural resources and the environment. The institution works in a strategic alliance with producers, organizations, partners, public and private institutions, universities, municipalities, donors and cooperators at the local, national and international levels.
In addition to this, its multicultural environment, represented by its faculty, students and graduates of more than 50 nationalities, give it an international character. Likewise, the institution maintains agreements with more than 70 universities in the United States, Europe and Latin America and works with more than 400 partners in Latin America, the Caribbean and other continents.
Its postgraduate program in agriculture and natural resources is the longest in Latin America and its master's and doctorates are internationally recognized for their quality. Proof of this is that all its master's degrees that have met the requirement of being taught for at least eight consecutive years are accredited by the National Accreditation System for Higher Education of Costa Rica (SINAES).
